IMMUNE SYSTEM

Friday, July 10th, 2009

Immune system protects the body from all types of bacterial and viral infections. When the body is attacked by disease causing bacteria and virus the body starts the immune response. The skin gives a basic protection from infection while the mucous membrane and powerful body enzymes start destroying the foreign bodies that have entered the body. The white blood cells also fight and destroy the foreign bodies which are called antigens. The immune system involves not only the white blood cells but also other tissues and skin. There are two types of responses produced by the immune system which are specific immunity and non specific immunity.
